Signing up for an unlimited wash plan takes seconds at the pay station. Canceling can take more effort. Here's how to cancel cleanly and make sure the charges actually stop.
Before you cancel
- Find your terms. Check the sign-up email, receipt or app for the cancellation section.
- Note your billing date. Many plans renew on the same day each month.
- Check notice requirements. Some require notice a few days before renewal.
How to cancel
- Use the official method listed in your terms: app, website or in person.
- Also send an email stating your name, plate number, membership ID and "Please cancel my membership effective immediately." This gives you a timestamped record.
- Get confirmation. Ask for a confirmation number or email and screenshot it.
- Ask about the tag. If your plan uses an RFID windshield sticker, ask whether to remove or return it.
Timing
Cancel several days before your next billing date, not the morning of.
If they keep charging you
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Contact the business with your confirmation and ask for a refund |
| 2 | Dispute the charge with your card issuer, attach proof |
| 3 | Ask your bank about stopping future charges from that merchant |
| 4 | File a complaint with FDACS at 1-800-HELP-FLA |
Canceling after a damage claim
If you're canceling because the wash damaged your car, cancel separately from your claim. Don't let a cancellation be bundled into a settlement you haven't agreed to.
Tip
Use a credit card rather than a debit card for memberships. Disputes are usually easier.
Read the renewal language
Phrases to look for in the terms:
